MASON — Junior John Mostowy won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Muskingum Saturday morning at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in the OAC, while Muskingum falls to 0-6, 0-3.
ONU opened the day with a sweep of doubles play at the OAC Tennis Festival.
Mostowy teamed up with senior Sam Prewitt at No.1 doubles to win 8-2, sophomore Alex Starr and sophomore Daniel Warren claimed No. 2 doubles winning 8-1 and senior Alex Altman and sophomore Gary Hess won No. 3 doubles 8-2.
Northern continued its dominance in single play sweeping all six matches.
Mostowy claimed No. 1 singles, while Starr won No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-1, Prewitt won No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0, Altman won No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0, sophomore Alex Genbauffe won No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0, and Hess won No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-2.
The Polar Bears are next in action on Sunday as they take on Marietta at 9 am at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
