Men's Tennis improves to 6-0 in OAC play, wins 7th straight with 8-1 victory at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team ran its win streak to seven matches and improve to 6-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play with an 8-1 victory at Otterbein Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-2 overall and stay atop the OAC standings with a 6-0 mark, while the Cardinals fall to 8-10, 4-2.
The Polar Bears started off the match by taking all three doubles courts.
The tandem of junior Michael Kathary and freshman Do Thai won their 10th straight match with an 8-0 victory over Tyler Brodhead and Ryan Catanese at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, junior Jeff Carter and Andrew Korba won by an 8-3 score.
Sophomore Joey Frank and junior Nick Kowalczyk won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles to complete the sweep of doubles.
In singles play, the Polar Bears kept rolling.
Frank won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles over Steven Albert.
Kathary followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Thai won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while freshman Josh Saunders was victorious by a 6-2, 6-1 score at No. 5 singles.
Carter notched the final victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ryan Roberts at No. 6 singles.
"Today was a solid win against a good team," said head coach Bob Rohan. "Our guys made adjustments during the match and it showed."
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Thursday when they host NAIA foe Walsh at 3:30 p.m.
