Ohio Northern blanks Muskingum 5-0 in Quarterfinals of OAC Men's Tennis Tournament

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team advanced to the OAC Semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament with a with a 5-0 quarterfinal win over Muskingum Tuesday afternoon at the University Courts.
With the win the Polar Bears are now 15-3 overall, while the Muskies end their season at 5-11.
Northern, the top seed in the tournament for the second consecutive season, began play by sweeping all three doubles courts while dropping just two games in the process.
Senior Jeff Carter and junior Andrew Korba notched the first win of the day with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of sophomore Joey Frank and junior Nick Kowalczyk defeated Malcolm Reed and Adrian Matthews by a score of 8-1.
Junior Michael Kathary and freshman Do Thai rounded out the sweep with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Kowalczyk put the Polar Bears up 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dale De Fluiter.
Carter then clinched the match at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Friday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason when they face either Baldwin-Wallace or Mount Union.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
