Strong doubles play sets tone for Men's Tennis in 9-0 victory over Indiana Tech

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over Indiana Tech Tuesday afternoon at the University Courts.
With the win the Polar Bears improve to 5-2 overall while the Warriors fall to 3-6.
Northern began play by taking all three doubles courts.
The tandem of senior Jeff Carter and junior Andrew Korba notched the first doubles win with by an 8-1 margin.
Junior Michael Kathary and freshman Do Thai soon followed with a 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Joey Frank and junior Nick Kowlaczyk completed the sweep with a 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Jose Brito and Craig Wassell.
"The doubles set the tone for us today," said head coach Bob Rohan. "After a long weekend of a lot of tennis, all three courts started quickly and never looked back."
In singles play the top three courts set the tone.
Frank won a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles over Brito while Kathary won 6-3, 6-2 over Daniel Yamaoto at No. 2 singles.
Thai won at No. 3 singles by a 6-3, 6-0 score.
At No. 4 singles, Kowalczyk scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wassell.
Freshman Josh Saunders won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Carter finished out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
"The top three singles courts really showed great composure for us" Rohan added. "All three of them had tough matches and handled the challenge greatly".
The Polar Bears will be in action again on Saturday when they host Capital in a 1 pm match.
