Men's Tennis remains unbeaten in OAC play and extends win streak to 12 with 9-0 victory over Wilmington

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team won its 12th consecutive match Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 win against Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington at University Courts.
The Polar Bears better their record to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference, while the Quakers move to 0-13 overall and 0-8 in the OAC.
In No. 1 singles, two potential OAC Player of the Year candidates battled until the very end, as Ohio Northern's Joey Frank defeated Wilmington's Joe Freudenberg in three sets 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 11-9.
"It's hard to describe how tough that match really was," Frank said. "Being able to come out on top like that is a huge confidence builder for me and I hope to carry that forward. As a team, it's good to keep winning. We need to keep this momentum going into postseason play and toward our goal of an OAC championship."
Frank is now 15-6 overall and 6-1 in conference singles matches this season while Freudenberg moves to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in OAC singles matches this year.
The Polar Bears went up 3-0 as a team after the doubles matches were complete.
Frank and sophomore Nick Kowalczyk defeated Freudenberg and Josh Kincaid 8-4 in No. 1 doubles play.
In No. 2 doubles action, junior Jeff Carter and sophomore Andrew Korba won 8-0 over Conner LaVelle and Dustin Anderson.
The duo of sophomore Matt Dutro and freshman Mike King defeated Randall Davidson and Jon Crook 8-0 in No. 3 doubles.
Kowalczyk won his No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1 over LaVelle to stay undefeated in OAC singles matches this year at 7-0.
In No. 3 singles, Carter won 6-0, 6-0 against Crook.
Korba defeated Anderson 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles match.
Junior Kyle Barnaba won his No. 5 singles match against Kincaid 6-1, 6-0.
In No. 6 singles, King defeated Clyde Boswell 6-0, 6-0.
Ohio Northern travels to Muskingum on Thursday for a 3:30 pm match.
