Men's Tennis advances to semifinals of OAC Tournament with 5-0 victory over Muskingum

ADA — In the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals, the No. 1-seeded Ohio Northern men's tennis team advanced with a 5-0 win against No. 8-seeded Muskingum Tuesday afternoon at University Courts.
The win is the Polar Bears' 15th straight and improves them to 17-2 overall while the Muskies finish the season at 6-12 overall.
Ohio Northern began the match by winning the three doubles matches.
Sophomore Nick Kowalczyk and freshman Joey Frank won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles against Malcolm Reed and Adrian Matthews.
The No. 2 doubles duo of Jeff Carter and Andrew Korba defeated Seth Holdsworth and Kyle Vallejo 8-2.
Sophomore Matt Dutro and freshman Mike King won 8-4 in their No. 3 doubles match against Dale De Fluiter and Hunter Huffman.
"Mike and I just tried to be consistent and better our hitting today," Dutro said. "This was a really big win for our team today and this keeps our morale up. We need to keep progressing through the tournament when we face our next opponent"
Frank was the first singles player to win as he defeated Reed 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match.
In No. 4 singles play, Korba earned the team's final win as he won 6-0, 6-1 against De Fluiter.
Ohio Northern moves on to the OAC Tournament Semifinals at the Linder Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, to face the winner of the Capitaland John Carroll match Friday at 4:30 pm.
