Bio

Erik Richards is in his fourth year as the Ohio Northern diving coach in 2023-24.

Before coming to ONU, Richards worked as the assistant diving coach for Delaware DARTS club diving team for five years.
 
At ONU, he has coached Sofia Vasquez, who was named OAC Diver of the Year in 2021, and Holden Cubberley, who won back-to-back OAC titles in both 1- and 3-meter diving and earned the OAC Diver of the Year accolade in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Cubberley qualifying for the NCAA Division III Diving Championships in 2022.
 
Richards was also part of ONU's 2021 staff that was awarded OAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year alongside head coach Austin Veltman and assistant coach Erin Chrissobolis.
 
Richards earned his associate degree of Applied Science from Hocking College in 2020.
 
He lives in Ada with his sister Emily, who was a nine-time NCAA Division III champion and 13-time All-American in track and field and cross country at Ohio Northern.
