Men's Swimming and Diving finishes third at Calvin (Mich.) Quad meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team finished third at the Calvin (Mich.) Quad meet Friday and Saturday.
The Basics
- The Polar Bears were third with 717 points over 20 events.
- Records: Ohio Northern (1-1 Overall, 1-1 OAC).
- Calvin (Mich.) won the meet with 1214 points, Carthage (Wis.) was second with 881.5 points and Albion (Mich.) was fourth with 362.5 points.
- Venue: Venema Aquatic Center - Grand Rapids, Mich.
Meet Highlights
- Junior Selby Wilt (Findlay) and sophomore Nathan Herbert (Medina/Highland) each had three top-10 individual finishes to lead Ohio Northern.
- Wilt was fourth in the 100-yard back in ;54.58, was 8th in the 50 free in :21.74 and was 9th in the 100 free in :48.06.
- Herbert was 6th in the 1650 free in 17:24.02, was 8th in the 200 free in 1:49.55 and was 9th in the 500 free in 5:02.16.
- Junior Simon Bopple (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) was 5th in the 100 back in :55.68 and was 6th in the 200 back in 2:07.19.
- Freshman Chase McCluskey (Pickerington/North) was 3rd in the 200 free in 1:44.52 and was 5th in the 500 free in 4:52.74.
- Junior Nathan Clark (Cleves/Elder) was 4th in the 100 breast in :59.86.
- Sophomore Riley Verb (Bluffton) was 5th in the 200 back in 2:06.97.
- Senior Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) was 7th in the 100 free in :21.70.
- Junior Long Huynh (Billings, Mont./West) was 8th in the 200 fly in 2:02.66.
- Sophomore Evan Miller (Cincinnati/LaSalle) was 8th in the 200 back in 2:09.62.
- Sophomore Grayson Morgan (Clyde) was 8th in the 100 breast in 1:01.46.
- Freshman Austin Peace (Eaton) was 10th in the 200 breast in 2:17.61.
- The 200 free relay team of Wilt, Clark, junior Isaac Reddy (Maryland Heights, Mo./Pattonville) and Horgan was 3rd in 1:25.83.
- The 400 free relay team of Wilt, Clark, senior Aiden Magoolaghan (Hinckley/Highland) and McCluskey was 2nd in 3:09.61.
- The 800 free relay team of junior Tyler Edmonds (Youngsville, La./Southside), Herbert, Magoolaghan and McCluskey was 3rd in 7:14.89.
- The 200 medley relay team of Wilt, Clark, McCluskey and Horgan was 4th in 1:36.31.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 20 events, including 15 individual races, five relays and two diving events.
- Each team's top four finishers in each event scored team points.
- Austin Veltman is 32-18 in his seventh season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
