Holden Cubberley leads Men's Swimming and Diving on first day of Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Junior Holden Cubberley (Celina) won the 1-meter diving competition on Friday to lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team on day one of the two-day Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet at the Venema Aquatic Center.

Meet Highlights
- Cubberley scored 501.37 points over 11 dives to win the 1-meter diving competition, finishing first of nine divers.
- Cubberley holds the school record in 1-meter diving for 11 dives at 524.35 points, which he set at the 2023 OAC Championships.
- Sophomore Selby Wilt (Findlay) finished fifth in the 50 free in :21.48. Junior Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) was second in the event in :22.00.
- In the 200 I.M., sophomore Tyler Edmonds (Youngsville, La./Southside) was ninth in 2:02.48 and sophomore Nathan Clark (Cleves/Elder) was10th in 2:02.49.
- ONU's top-two finishers in the 500 free were freshman Nathan Herbert (Medina/Highland) in 10th in 5:06.74 and freshman Riley Verb (Bluffton) in 13th place in 5:15.36.
- The 200 free relay team of Clark, Wilt, sophomore Aiden Magoolaghan (Hinckley/Highland) and Horgan touched third in 1:26.33.
- The 400 medley relay team consisting of Verb, Clark, sophomore Long Huynh (Billings, Mt./West) and Wilt was seventh in 3:41.31.
- Calvin (Mich.) leads the team standings with 682 points, Carthage (Wis.) is second with 272 points and Albion (Mich.) is fourth with 57 points.

- The meet consists of 20 events, including 13 individual races, five relays and 2 diving events.
- The meet is the fifth of 11 regular season contests for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 27-14 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
