Cubberley finishes 13th on 3-meter board at NCAA Regional Diving Championships

CHICAGO, Ill. — Sophomore Holden Cubberley (Celina) placed 13th on the 3-meter board on the second and final day of the NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championships on Saturday at the Ratner Athletics Center at the University of Chicago.
Cubberley finished with 422.95 points on his 11 dives in the 32-diver field.
The field of divers for the NCAA Championships will be announced on Monday and are based on results of both the 1- and 3-meter events. Nine divers from Region 1 are expected to be chosen when the committee meets on Monday.
Cubberley was named the OAC Men's Diver of the Year for the second consecutive season last weekend as swept the 1- and 3-meter events at the OAC Championships. He broke the school record in the 3-meter diving competition with 527.30 points for 11 dives and the 1-meter diving with 524.35 for 11 dives.
Spyker is a two-time All-OAC honoree on the 1-meter board, finishing third in the OAC in each of the past two seasons.
Logan Sherwin of Chicago (Ill.) won the individual crown with 487.90 points.
On Friday, Cubberley was sixth and junior Charlie Spyker (Harrod/Shawnee) was 32nd out of 33 divers on the 1-meter board.
Cubberley scored 430.05 points on his 11 dives and Spyker scored 329.30 points on his 11 dives.
