Holden Cubberley breaks school record in 1-meter diving, leads Men's Swimming and Diving to 151-133 victory over Grove City (Pa.)

ADA — Sophomore Holden Cubberley (Celina) broke the 1-meter diving school record, leading the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team to a 151-133 victory over Grove City (Pa.) in the team's regular season finale on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-2, while the Wolverines fall to 6-2.
Cubberley scored 328.65 points over six dives on the 1-meter board, breaking the previous record of 304.20 set by George Chesney in 2009.
Cubberley also won the 3-meter diving unopposed with a career-best 295.30 points for six dives.
Senior Calob Cope (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) posted a pair of victories, sweeping the distance free races.
He won the 1,650 free in 17:17.37 and the 500 free in 4:53.00.
Freshman Carter Detweiler (Newton, Pa./Council Rock) won the 200 free in 1:45.34.
The 400 free relay team of freshmen Selby Wilt (Findlay), Detweiler, junior Charlie Spyker (Harrod/Shawnee) and sophomore Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) won in 3:09.19.
The Polar Bears return to action Feb. 15-18 with the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
