Adams, Horgan leads Men's Swimming and Diving to 157-139 victory over No.17 John Carroll

ADA — Senior Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) and freshman Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) led the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team to a 157-139 victory over No.17-ranked John Carroll at the ONU Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
Adams and Horgan each won two individual events and two relays, improving the Polar Bears to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, handing the Blue Streaks (0-1 overall, 0-1 OAC) their first loss of the season.
Adams won both the 200-yard free and 200-yard breast in 1:46.13 and 2:11.13, respectively.
Horgan won the 50-yard free and 100-yard free in 21.32 and 47.66, respectively.
Sophomore Ben Lacey (Lebanon) won the 200-yard fly in 1:56.76 and finished second in the 100-fly in 52.18.
Senior Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) won the 100-yard fly in 52.05 touching .13 seconds before Lacey.
Junior Calob Cope (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won the 500-yard free in 5:01.68 and touched the wall second in the 1000-yard free in 10:22.68.
ONU won both relays of the day winning the 200-yard medlay relay in 1:35.16 consisting of Stanley, Adams, Lacey, Horgan and won the 200-yard free relay in 1:26.48 made up of Lacey, Horgan, senior Mike Lewandowski (Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower) and Adams.
Sophomores Wes Richards (Pinckney, Mich.) and Patrick Wellman (Dublin/Jerome) finished second in the 200-yard breast and 500-yard free in 2:16.70 and 5:01.99, respectively.
Freshman Holden Cubberley (Celina) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 290.2 and 258.3, respectively.
Sophomore Evan Sailor (Goshen, Ind.) finished second behind Cubberley in both diving events with scores of 213.70 and 197.40, respectively.
Ohio Northern will return to the pool Friday and Saturday at the Calvin Quad in Grand Rapids, Mich.
