Men’s Swimming & Diving falls to Case Western Reserve 225-64

CLEVELAND — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team travelled bright and early Saturday to Case Western Reserve for a dual meet. The Polar Bears fell to the Spartans 225-64.
Ohio Northern was led by two first-place finishers. Sophomore Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.19, while freshman Ian Kogucki (Kingwood, Tex./Kingwood) topped the field in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:00.78.
Adams also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.69, and Kogucki touched second in the 200-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 2:13.90.
Freshman Calob Cope (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) finished third in the 200-yard individual medley, logging a time of 2:01.19. He placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with time of 1:49.75.
In the 100-yard fly, sophomore Justin Delano (Englewood/Northmont) finished fourth with a time of 53.80.
On the diving side, ONU's lone diver, junior Dylan Boyd (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), finished third in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events with a point total of 170.30 and 159.20, respectively.
In the team events, the 400-yard medley relay team — composed of senior Ryan Groehl (Marysville), Adams, sophomore Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) and Delano — finished second in a time of 3:34:51. The 200-yard freestyle relay team — consisting of Adams, sophomore Jack Kessler (Catawba Island/Port Clinton), junior Zach Ayres (Chillicothe) and Delano — finished third with a time of 1:28.56.
The Polar Bears will be back in action for the OAC Championships at the Ocasek Natatorium in Akron Feb. 13-15.
