Men’s Swimming & Diving dominates breaststroke during last day of Wooster Invite

WOOSTER — For the second time in as many days, the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team did some work in the breaststroke event at the Wooster Invitational. The Polar Bears took up half of the A Final during the third and final day of the competition.
Sophomore Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) led the way, for the second consecutive day, in the 200-yard breaststroke. He topped the field, racing a time of 2:05.99.
Junior Patrick Reed (Charleston, W.Va./Washington) took third, clocking in at 2:08.57. Freshman Ian Kogucki (Kingwood, Tex.) placed fourth, recording a time of 2:08.73, and freshman Dillon Brady (Cleveland/St. Edward) finished seventh in a time of 2:10.12.
The breaststroke performances helped the Polar Bears finish fourth, as a team, with 1016.5 points.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team — of Adams, sophomore Justin DeLano (Englewood/Northmont), freshman Logan Randall (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) and senior Ryan Groehl (Marysville) — finished sixth with a time of 3:10.73.
Sophomore Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) touched seventh in the 200-yard butterfly, logging a time of 1:57.93. DeLano placed 12th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.62, and fellow sophomore Chris Walton (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock) touched 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 18:17.71.
Northern is back in action after the New Year when it hosts Kenyon and Oberlin Jan. 10.
