Adams wins 100 breast, paces Men's Swimming and Diving at Day 2 of Calvin (Mich.) Quad

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Sophomore Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) won the 100 breast to guide the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team to a fourth place finish on Day 2 of the Calvin (Mich.) Quad on Saturday at the Venema Aquatic Center.
Adams won the 100 breast in 57.32 and placed second in the 200 breast in 2:11.80.
Northern was fourth with 626 points while Calvin won the meet with 1258.5 points.
In addition to Adams' victory in the 100 breast, junior Patrick Reed (Charleston, W.Va./Washington) was third in 1:00.44, freshman Ian Kogucki (Kingwood, Tex.) was fourth in 1:00.75.
The 200 medley relay team of senior Ryan Groehl (Marysville), Kogucki, sophomore Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) and junior Zach Ayres (Chillicothe) was third in 1:38.81.
Groehl added a fourth place finish in the 200 back, touching in 2:04.66.
Junior Dylan Boyd (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) was fourth in the 3-meter diving, scoring 226.70 points.
In the 100 fly, sophomore Justin DeLano (Englewood/Northmont) was fourth in 52.99. DeLano was also fifth in the 100 back in 55.15.
Adams, freshman Logan Randall (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain), Stanley, DeLano teamed up in the 800 free for a fifth place finish, touching in 7:39.50.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday for a dual meet at Witenberg. The meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
