No. 24 Men's Swimming & Diving tops Wilmington

ADA--Senior Drew Keriazes took two individual firsts and was a part of a first place relay to help lead the No. 24 Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team to a 187-44 victory over Wilmington Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.
Ohio Northern improves to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the OAC, while Wilmington falls to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the OAC.
Keriazes took first place in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Backstroke with times of 2:01.38 and 56.22, respectively.
Northern won five of the six Freestyle events starting with freshman Jacob Croasdell winning the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:20.15.
Sophomore Brian Heilbronner won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:49.87, junior John Beaschler won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 49.02 and junior Christian Garlock won the 50 Freestyle in 22.05.
Junior Jordan Breitigam won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 52.56 and freshman Connor Wood took first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.45.
Senior Marc Anderson, Beaschler, Garlock and Heilbronner teamed up to win the 400 Freestyle Relay in 3:19.02.
The Polar Bears also took first in the 400 IM Relay with Keriazes, Beaschler, Breitigam and Heilbronner winning the race in 3:36.83.
Junior Kyle Rex swept the diving events by winning the 1-meter with a score of 220.65 points and the 3-meter with a score of 227.25.
"It was great to have the squad at full strength tonight," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "Wilmington's team is growing and it was nice to see how the freshman would react with a full crowd. We have a lot of work to do, and it was good to see what we need to focus on."
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Hillsdale (Mich.) for a tri-meet against Hillsdale and Olivet (Mich.) at 6 pm.
