Michael Schultz, Jordan Breitigam receive bids to compete at NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships

ADA — The No. 11-ranked Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team had two swimmers receive bids to compete at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships March 21-24 at Indianapolis, Ind.
Senior Michael Schultz (New Berlin, Wis./Martin Luther) and sophomore Jordan Breitigam (Wayne/Bowling Green) will represent ONU at the Championships.
Schultz qualified in the 200 and 500 free, and will also have the opportunity to compete in the 1650 free as an NCAA "B" Cut qualifier in all three events.
He was named the OAC Men's Swimmer of the Year for the fourth time in his career this season.
Schultz is currently ranked 14th nationally in the 200 free (1:40.30), is 13th in the 500 free (4:33.07) and is 17th in the 1650 free (15:56.94).
He earned All-America honors in the 1650 free as a junior in 2010 by finishing fifth in the 1650 free and was named Honorable Mention All-Ameirca in the 500 free with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Championships.
Breitigam qualified in the 200 fly and has been invited to compete in the 100 fly and the 200 I.M. as an NCAA "B" Cut qualifier.
He is ranked seventh nationally in the 200 fly (1:50.43), is 42nd in the 100 fly (:50.15) and is 56th in the 200 I.M. (1:54.12).
Junior Drew Keriazes (Springfield) qualified with "B" cuts in the 100 breast, the 200 breast and the 200 I.M but did not receive a bid to the NCAA Championships.
Senior Nick Meyer (Cleves/Taylor) surpassed the NCAA standard in the 1-meter (454.75 points) and 3-meter diving (455.35 points) events and was named the OAC Men's Diver of the Year this season.
The bids for the divers will be announced on Tue.
The Polar Bears finished the 2011-12 season with a 12-1 record, won their sixth consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a 5-0 mark and won their eighth consecutive OAC Championships title under eighth-year head coach Peggy Ewald.
