Five Men's Soccer Student-athletes earn awards for 2024 from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association

ADA — Fifth-year seniors Will Shaffer (Galena/St. Francis DeSales) and Cade Winchester (Knoxville, Tenn./Alcoa) and seniors Brenden Gervers (Grand Blanc, Mich.), Ryan Sommerfeld (Dublin/Coffman) and Noah Zebrak (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) all erned awards from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association for 2024.
Shaffer, Sommerfeld, Zebrak and Gerevers were named All-Ohio and all five were named Academic All-Ohio.
Shaffer, Sommerfeld and Zebrak were named First Team All-Ohio and Gerevers was a Second Team All-Ohio honoree.
All four men previously earned All-Region honors this year.
On the Academic All-Ohio list, Shaffer, Sommerfeld and Zebrak were First team honorees, while Gerevers and Winchester were on the Second Team.
Shaffer is also a two-time College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American.
Shaffer was named OAC Midfielder of the Year this season after starting in all 22 games and is tied for second on the team in goals (7) and ranks second for ONU in points (20) and assists (6).
Shaffer has started in all 65 career games and has 57 points on 20 goals and 17 assists.
Sommerfeld was named First Team All-OAC and led the team in points (23), goals (8), and assists (7) while starting in all 22 games for the Polar Bears.
In his career, Sommerfeld has 67 points on 25 goals and 17 assists in 71 games.
Zebrak also earned First Team All-OAC honors. Offensively, Zebrak had 14 points on five goals and four assists.
Zebrak has played in 73 matches, including 65 starts, and has nine goals and five assists for 23 points.
Gervers was named All-OAC Second Team this season after tallying 10 points on three goals and four assists while starting in all 22 matches.
In 84 career games, Gervers has 27 points on nine goals and nine assists.
Winchester is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree and was named Academic All-Ohio in 2022.
The midfielder and sport management major was second on the team this season in goals with eight.
In 87 career games, Winchester has tallied 41 points on 19 goals and three assists.
The Polar Bears closed the season with a 14-4-4 overall record and were second in the OAC with a 7-1-1 record under sixth-year head coach Chris Matejka.
They clinched an at-large bid into their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance and third in the last three seasons and made it to the Second Round.
