WESTERVILLE — Ohio Northern fought hard, but fell 1-0 at No. 9-ranked Otterbein in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The fourth-seeded Polar Bears fall to 11-7-3 and are enjoying their 16th consecutive winning season, while the top-seeded Cardinals improve to 14-0-4 and advance to the finals of the OAC Tournament on Saturday.
Ohio Northern will find out if its season is over or an NCAA Tournament bid is in the offering on Monday at 1:30 pm at the NCAA Selection show on NCAA.com.
The Cardinals scored first 10:47 into the second half when Gabe Sherrock scored from point-blank range off a corner kick from Will Isaac.
Senior John Lombardo (Solon) had eight saves in goal for the Polar Bears.
ONU had five shots on goal, but all five were saved by OU keeper Andrew McIlvoy.
Otterbein out-shot Ohio Northern 19-18 and had a 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
