ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team secured its second straight shutout victory Saturday afternoon, defeating NAIA opponent Huntington (Ind.) 2-0 at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears (2-1-1 overall) have ceded just two goals this season, and both came in their opener at No. 3 Calvin (Mich.).
Coming off a 5-0 home win on Friday, ONU held the Foresters (4-2-0 overall) in check, and senior goalkeeper John Lombardo (Solon) recorded six saves on Huntington's eight shots.
The Polar Bears' two goals came courtesy of senior Bryan Kern (Rocky River) and freshman Trevor Tabb (Toledo/Springfield) on assists from seniors Seth Gundlach (Wilmington) and Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), respectively.
Kern took a team-high four of ONU's nine shots in the game, and the Polar Bears held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Northern tallied one goal in each half with the first coming almost 25 minutes into the game when Gundlach found Kern for the latter's second score of the season.
ONU took that 1-0 lead into the second half and added to it with just under nine minutes remaining when Tabb netted his team-high third goal of the season.
The Polar Bears return to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. for a matchup at No. 13 Ohio Wesleyan for the first of three straight road games.
