ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 2-1 victory over Mount Union on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears finish fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season standings with a 5-3-1 record, while the Purple Raiders fall to 4-4-0.
Northern clinched a spot in the 6-team OAC Tournament this week. The OAC will release the pairings and seedings for the tournament on Monday.
Freshman Cade Winchester (Louisville, Tenn./Alcoa) gave Ohio Northern a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal with 6:57 left in the first half.
He then assisted junior Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) on a goal 6:45 into the second half and it was 2-0.
Mount Union scored just 49 seconds later to pull within 2-1.
The Polar Bears were able to manage Mount Union's pressure late in the game to finish the victory.
Northern out-shot Mount 10-8 and junior John Lombardo (Solon) had one save in goal for ONU.
