BEXLEY — Senior Zach Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) scored in the 75th minute to lead the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Capital Monday night at Bernlohr Stadium.
With the win the Polar Bears improve to 3-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Crusaders fall to 2-5-0, 2-5-0.
Yoder blasted a free kick from about 24 yards out to the top left of the goal out of the reach of the goaltender.
Junior Matt Studenic (Wadsworth) was driving in and fouled on a yellow card by a Capital defender to set up Yoder's goal.
Both defenses stood tall in the first half as Northern led shots on goal 2-0 and shots 10-1.
ONU out-shot CU 16-4.
Ohio Northern will return to action Thursday night with a 7pm contest against Otterbein at Kerscher Stadium.
