ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team lost to Marietta 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday at Kerscher Stadium. The loss drops the No. 3-seeded Polar Bears to 13-6-1 overall, while the win improves the No. 6-seeded Pioneers to 10-8-1 overall.
No. 6-seeded Marietta advances to the conference semifinals and will travel to No. 2-seeded Otterbein Thursday.
Luke Maher netted the contest's first goal off a feed from Jovonni Auddino in the 12th minute. Gavin Long put the game on ice in the 86th minute off a feed from Robert Phillips.
Northern out-shot Marietta 11-8, however, five of the Pioneers' shots were on target and only one of the Polar Bears' shots were on frame.
ONU sophomore Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) — who was honored as part of the OAC All-Tournament Team — registered a game-high four shots while seven other Polar Bears recorded a shot.
Northern sophomore goaltender John Lombardo (Solon) logged three saves, and Marietta goalie Dakota Penquite didn't have a save.
