Men's Soccer raising awareness about mental health by partnering with The Worth It Project
ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer program would like to help bring awareness to mental health and in doing so, has partnered up with The Worth It Project.
The Worth It Project was created in 2018 by ONU student athletes with the motivation to help people of all ages through difficult times by creating a product that always signifies self-confidence and invokes positive energy. There are many individuals around us that suffer from various mental health disorders. The Worth It Project's main goal is to spread awareness so that these individuals know they are not alone.
ONU players and coaches will be wearing Worth It Project t-shirts during warm-ups before our game versus Otterbein Wednesday night. Kickoff is for 7:00 p.m. at Kerscher Stadium.
These t-shirts will be on sale for only $10, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. These t-shirts are available for purchase inside Dial Roberson stadium near the concession stand during the entire game on Wednesday and will be available for purchase online as well at TheWorthItProject.org.
Through previous sales since December of 2018, the Worth It Project has been able to donate almost $1,000 toward research. The Foundation awards scientific grants to those working to make discoveries in understanding causes and improving treatment of mental disorders, such as depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, and many others.
Always remember to check up on loved ones as someone you may know could be struggling with mental health without showing any signs or symptoms. Together, let's help break the stigma surrounding mental health and know that you and everyone around you are always worth it.
If you would like to purchase a shirt, please email assistant coach Anthony Clark, a-clark.2@onu.edu. Please let him know what size t-shirt you would like and we will have it ready for you!
