ALMA — Sophomore Levi King's (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) heroics lifted the Ohio Northern men's soccer team past Alma, Mich. 2-1 in double overtime Saturday. The victory, the Polar Bears' seventh in a row, pushed their record to 8-2-1.
King scored unassisted in the 106th minute. It was King's team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Alma got on the board first on a goal from Kyle Farmer in the 30th minute. King logged his fifth goal of the season in the 52nd minute to knot the game at 1-1.
Northern doubled up the Scots 32-16 in shots. Junior Beelal Hasan (Worthington) led the way with 10 shots, while King and junior Jimmy Walkinshaw (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) had seven and five shots, respectively. ONU sophomore goaltender John Lombardo (Solon) registered four saves.
The Polar Bears take a week off before traveling to Marietta Saturday for their Ohio Athletic Conference.
