ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Geneva (Pa.) on Saturday evening at Merriman & Reeves Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 0-1-1 overall, while the Golden Tornadoes improve to 2-0-0.
Senior J.J. Fortner (Maumee) led Northern as he scored the lone goal of the evening for ONU.
After a defensive battle ensued in the first half, Geneva struck first in the 67th minute to take a 1-0 advantage.
Fortner would even the score at 1-1 in the 73rd minute as he capitalized on a free kick.
In the 82nd minute Geneva would find the back of the net to regain the lead.
Minutes later, Geneva would add an insurance goal to seal the 3-1 victory.
Northern was outshot by a 17-12 margin but claimed the corner kick battle by a 6-3 margin.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday as they open the home portion of the schedule and host Wittenberg at Kerscher Stadium at 7 pm.
