ADA -- The Ohio Northern men's soccer team remained undefeated Friday evening with a 3-0 victory over Albion (Mich.) in day one of the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic at Townsend Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-0-0 overall, while Albion drops to 1-2-0.
Seniors Matt Kinkopf, Austin Horton and Nathan Libertowski each scored to lead the Polar Bears.
Senior goalkeeper Dean McNeil posted his 18th career shutout and added three saves for Northern, while improving to 5-0-0 on the season.
After an early defensive battle, Kinkopf broke the 0-0 tie as he capitalized on an Albion penalty in the 26th minute and gave ONU the 1-0 lead.
Horton added to the Ohio Northern lead in the 56th minute to push the ONU lead to 2-0.
Libertowski provided an insurance goal in the 74th minute to seal the 3-0 victory.
Northern outshot the Brits by a 22-4 margin and won the corner kick battle by an 11-1 margin.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday at 5 pm as they take on Mount St. Joseph during the second day of the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic.
