DEFIANCE — Junior Matt Kinkopf recorded his second hat trick of the season on Tuesday, leading the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 5-1 victory at area-rival Defiance at Winsper-Knobel Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-3-0 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-5-0.
Kinkopf scored in the 25th, 50th and 55th minutes as Ohio Northern built a 5-0 lead.
He also assisted on Northern's first goal of the match by junior Patrick Sabol with just 4:45 gone in the match.
Kinkopf made it 2-0 with his first goal at the 24:36 mark of the half.
He now leads the OAC in scoring with 18 points on seven goals and four assists.
Freshman Vincent DeNoi made it 3-0 with his first career goal with 34:03 gone in the match.
ONU out-shot Defiance 27-6 in the match.
The Polar Bears return home on Friday night and will face Anderson (Ind.) at 7 pm at Kerscher Stadium.
