ADA — Juniors Austin Horton and Matt Kinkopf led the Ohio Northern men's soccer team past Wittenberg Wednesday evening at Kerscher Stadium 2-1.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-1-0 overall on the season, while Wittenberg falls to 0-2-2.
Horton struck first for the Polar Bears in the 49th minute as he received a cross from Kinkopf to even the score at 1-1.
The Polar Bears game winning goal came in the 73rd minute as Kinkopf was able to beat the defender after receiving a pass from Horton to secure the 2-1 victory.
Northern dominated the ball out shooting the Tigers 24-4.
The Tigers scored first in the contest as Alberto Zaragoza was able to place a header past sophomore goalkeeper Dean McNeil for the 1-0 advantage.
ONU threatened several times in the first half as both junior Patrick Sabol and freshman Vincent DeNoi had open net opportunities but were unable to capitalize.
Ohio Northern would out shoot Wittenberg 11-3 in the second, two for goals.
The Polar Bear goalkeeper, McNeil moves to 3-1-0 overall with the victory.
Northern is next in action Friday when they take on Thiel, Pa. at 7:30 pm in the opening round of the ONU Invitational.
