ADA - The Polar Bears defeated Heidelberg Wednesday evening 2-0 at Kerscher Stadium.
Ohio Northern improves to 10-6-1 overall and 3-2-3 in the OAC, while Heidelberg falls to 7-6-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the OAC.
Heidelberg came out on the attack to start the first half, firing off four shots in the first 16 minutes of the game.
Heidelberg out shot Ohio Northern in the first half 8-5.
The Polar Bears, however, dominated the second half scoring two goals within two minutes of one another.
The first came in the 60th minute, as sophomore Dustin Lorenzo was able to score from the 18 to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
Ohio Northern would strike again in the 62nd minute, as sophomore Patrick Sabol was able to play a deflected ball just out of the reach of goalkeeper Matthew Stevens.
Heidelberg outshot the Polar Bears in the game 14-11.
Freshman goalkeeper Dean McNeil had five saves in the game and recorded his fourth shutout of the season.
With the win the Polar Bears improve its home record to 6-0-1.
Ohio Northern is next action Saturday as they travel to New Concord to take on Muskingum.
