UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team fell to John Carroll 2-0 in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener at Don Shula Stadium Saturday evening.
The Polar Bears fall to 7-5-0 overall, 0-1-0 in OAC on the season, while the Blue Streaks improve to 8-3-0 overall, 1-0-0 in the OAC.
The Blue Streaks' goals came in the 20th and 74th minutes as Brian Potocnik struck in the first half and Karol Boryka the second.
John Carrol outshot ONU 11-7 in the first half.
Freshman goalkeeper Dean McNeil recorded three saves in the first half, while sophomore Austin Horton attempted two shots.
Ohio Northern came out firing to start the second half as sophomore Dustin Lorenzo and senior Keegan Ross both fired off shots within the first two minutes of the second half but was unable to capitalize.
The Polar Bears were held to just four shots total in the the second half.
John Carroll outshot the Polar Bears on the game 17-11.
Goalkeeper McNeil recorded four saves in the game.
The Polar Bears are next in action Wednesday as they host Wilmington in a night game at Kerscher Stadium.
