KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Sophomore Patrick Sabol scored with 4:08 left in the match to lift the Ohio Northern men's soccer team past Kalamazoo (Mich.) 1-0 Friday night at MacKenzie Field.
The Polar Bears improve their record to 5-1-0 on the year while the Hornets fall to 2-2-0 on the season.
After going scoreless for the majority of the game, Sabol netted the lone goal in the match in the final minutes of regulation.
Sabol received a pass from sophomore Austin Horton in the 86th minute and beat the goal keeper to give the Polar Bears the 1-0 advantage. The goal was Sabol's first of the year.
Despite being outshot by the Hornets 14-6 on the night, the Polar Bears capitalized on their opportunities and managed to find the back of the net.
Freshman Dean McNeil earned the victory for Ohio Northern after recording six saves on the night. McNeil improves his record to 2-1-0 on the year for ONU.
The Polar Bears will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Albion (Mich.) to take on the Britons at a 2 pm start.
