SPRINGFIELD — Ohio Northern men's soccer team defeated Wittenberg 6-1 Wednesday night at Edward-Maurer field.
The Polar Bears move to 4-1-0 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 2-2-1.
ONU's first goal came in the 16th minute by junior Chase Mueller off a direct kick.
Ohio Northern went on to dominate the second half, scoring five goals in 29 minutes to turn a 1-1 tie into a commanding 6-1 advantage.
The first goal came in the 52nd minute by sophomore Matt Kinkopf off an assist from sophomore David Janusz, to make it 2-1 ONU.
Senior Keegan Ross scored in the 60th minute to make it 3-1, freshman Chris Garbig scored in the 66th minute to make it 4-1,sophomore Patrick Sabol scored in the 75th minute to put ONU up 5-1 and sophomore Brock Hersch wrapped up the onslaught with a goal in the 81st minute.
Wittenberg's only goal came in the 10th minute off a header from Zack Moore to put the Tigers ahead 1-0.
ONU outshot WU 24-13 and had 10 corner kicks to four for the hosts
The Polar Bears return to action Friday as they travel to Kalamazoo (Mich.) for a 7 pm match.
