ADA -- The No. 8 Ohio Northern men's soccer team remained undefeated for the 2013 season, with a 3-1 victory over Berry (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
The Polar Bears are now 6-0-0 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 2-3-1.
Northern struck first in the 22nd minute, when junior Zach Myers sent a ball in the box that freshman Dustin Lorenzo put in the net for his first goal of the season.
Berry would answer back just before the half and tie the game at 1-1, on a goal by Grant Cooksey.
Freshman Matt Kinkopf would put ONU back on top 2-1, with his team leading fourth goal of the season at the 61:36 mark.
Freshman David Janusz added an insurance goal in the 76th minute, when he took a pass from freshman Tommy Troy and blasted it into the back of the net.
"Berry is a good team that has a great offense," head coach Brent Ridenour said. "Getting a shutout in the second half is something that we can build off of."
Freshman goalkeeper Evan Bader made three saves and moves to 6-0-0 on the year.
Logan Hill (2-3-1) made two stops on the afternoon for Berry.
The Vikings outshot the Polar Bear 13-10, but ONU took five shots on goal while Berry took four.
"Overall, this was a very good weekend," added Ridenour. "We played two tough teams and came away with two wins. We will look to continue to improve."
Ohio Northern will return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts No. 6 Ohio Wesleyan in a battle on top 10 teams at 4 pm.
The match will also be broadcast on tape delay on NSCAAtv.com.
