ADA -- Junior Zach Myers scored two goals to lead the No. 4 Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Anderson (Ind.) on Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
The Polar Bears now stand at 2-0 on the season, while the Ravens fall to 1-2 overall.
Myers put ONU on the board first at the 24:48 mark, when he took a cross from freshman Matt Kinkopf and beat the goalie.
Kinkopf added a goal in the 35th minute, by taking a pass from freshman Dustin Lorenzo and beating the keeper to the lower right.
Myers would add his second goal of the match by dribbling into the box and blasting a goal into the back of the net. Sophomore Shintaroh Itoh picked up the assist on the play.
Freshman Ryan Prescott closed out the scoring at the 83:56 mark by scoring from inside the box off of a pass from junior A.J. Vergara.
"Today was a good start to our home season," head coach Brent Ridenour said. "Anderson is a very talented team. Being able to shut them out is something to be real proud of."
Freshman Evan Bader (2-0) picked up his first career shutout by making one save in goal.
Chris Maloney (1-1) made seven saves on the evening for Anderson.
The Polar Bears held a 17-8 advantage in shots, including a 11-1 margin in shots on goal.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday when it welcomes Kalamazoo (Mich.) to the ONU Soccer Field at 1 pm.
