BEREA--Junior Michael Grossnickle scored his second goal of the season at the 71:30 mark to give the No. 10 Ohio Northern men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Baldwin Wallace Saturday night at George Finne Stadium.
The Polar Bears are now 12-2 on the season and remain a perfect 3-0 in OAC play. The Yellow Jackets fall to 6-3-2, 1-1-1.
The teams played a scoreless first half.
The Polar Bears had a chance to score in the 64th minute, but senior Chris Matejka's shot was saved.
After Grossnickle put ONU up 1-0, Baldwin Wallace tried to mount a comback by taking three shots.
But two of them were blocked by the Polar Bears and one sailed wide.
Senior goalkeeper Mac Church made zero saves and is now 12-2 on the season. Church now has a school record 40 shutouts for his career.
Ryan Hulings (4-1-2) made saw six shots on the night and made five saves.
The Polar Bears fired 20 shots with six of them being on goal, compared to eight shots for Baldwin Wallace with none being on goal.
ONU also held a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday when they return home to face off against Otterbein at 4 pm.
