ANDERSON, Ind. — Senior Nate Bascom, junior Jeremy Barnes and freshman Keegan Ross each scored goals to lead the No. 4-ranked Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout victory at Anderson (Ind.) on Tuesday.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0-0, while the Ravens fall to 1-2-0.
Northern led 1-0 at intermission when Ross in the 25th minute off an assist from senior Patrick Roberts.
Ross' goal was his team-high fourth of the season and now gives him nine points on the year.
Barnes made it 2-0 with a goal in the 48th minute off an assist from freshman Shinataroh Itoh.
Bascom added an insurance goal in the 80th minute off an assist from junior Stephen Perkins.
Northern out-shot Anderson 27-8 and enjoyed a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Mac Church recorded his school-record 36th shutout with five saves in goal.
The Polar Bears will open the home portion of their 2012 schedule this weekend with the annual ONU Invitational, hosting Defiance on Friday at 3 pm and No. 13-ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) on Saturday.
