Bennett and Willits lead Men's Lacrosse to 19-6 victory over Mount Union

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team opened OAC play with a 19-6 win at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (6-3 Overall, 1-0 OAC), Mount Union (6-3 Overall, 0-1 OAC).
- Venue: Kehres Stadium - Alliance, Ohio.
The Game
- Senior Caleb Bennett (Stokesdale, N.C./Linganore) had five points on three goals and two assists to lead ONU.
- Junior Colin Willits (West Chester/Lakota West) had four points on three goals and one assist.
- Senior Ian Roy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) and junior Nathan Flynn (Springboro) each had two goals and an assist to help the Polar Bears.
- Freshman Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Macedon) scored his first career goal and had eight saves to get the win.
- The Orange and Black scored five unanswered in the first period, making it 5-0.
- The Polar Bears would go on another 6-0 run in the second period to make it an 11-0 lead at halftime.
- Lich scored on a 100-yard run and point-blank finish to put ONU ahead 10-0 with 5:11 left in the half. It is the first goal scored by a goalie in ONU history.
- Mount Union would score two goals to open the second half to make it 11-2.
- Ohio Northern went on a 4-2 run to finish the third period with a 15-4 lead.
- The Purple Raiders were led by Talen Osmun with three goals.
- ONU out-shot MU 47-36 and had the ground balls advantage 37-33.

- Willits ranks fifth all-time in ONU history with 63 career goals.
- ONU leads the all-time series with a 9-1 record.
- Bennett ranks eighth all-time in ONU history with 32 career assists.
