Men's Lacrosse falls on late goal at Baldwin Wallace in battle atop the league standings

BEREA — Baldwin Wallace scored with 1:50 left to snap a 13-all tie and held on for a 14-13 victory over the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team on Wednesday evening.

- Records: Ohio Northern (10-5 overall, 5-2 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (7-6 overall, 6-1 OAC).

The Game
- Ohio Northern scored three consecutive goals, keyed by a goal and an assist from senior John Lynn (Cincinnati/Sycamore), in a span of 1:22 to grab a 13-11 lead with 6:41 left in the game.
- The the Yellow Jackets would tie the game with 3:58 left to play and would score the go-ahead goal with 1:50 left.
- Northern would get the ball with 40 seconds left, but would not get off a shot and BW held on for the win.
- Senior Aidan Dempsey (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) had four goals and Lynn finished with six points on two goals and four assists to lead the Polar Bears.
- The game was close throughout, as it was tied 3-3 after the first period and 6-6 at halftime.
- Northern led 9-8 entering the fourth quarter.
- Fifth-year senior Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) had seven saves in goal for the Polar Bears.
- ONU out-shot BWU 44-35.

- The Polar Bears entered the game in a 5-way tie atop the OAC standings with a 5-1 league mark and are now tied with Capital for third place with 5-2 conference records.
- Dempsey now ranks fifth all-time in ONU history with 134 points in his career. He ranks third with 95 career goals and is fifth with 40 assists.
- He also leads the team in scoring this season with 38 goals, 12 assists and 50 points.
- In all, 26 different Polar Bears have scored goals this season with five more adding at least one assist.
- Senior Chad Calderwood (Portland, Ore./Episcopal) went 12-for-20 on faceoffs on the day, extending his school record to 402for his career.
- Senior Sebastian Michaud (Springboro) had one goal and is sixth at ONU with 69 career goals, is seventh with 30 assists and is sixth with 99 points.
- Fifth-year senior Riley O'Neal (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) is fifth sixth 38 career assists.
- Zafarakis holds the ONU career records for saves (564), wins (46) and goalie minutes played (3,592).
- Head coach Nat St.Laurent is in his ninth season at Ohio Northern with an 89-47 record and has a winning percentage of .654.
