Reimer, Lynn, Zaferakis named All-OAC in Men’s Lacrosse for 2023

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Andrew Reimer (Lancaster, N.Y.), junior John Lynn (Cincinnati/Sycamore) and senior Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's lacrosse for 2023 in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
Reimer and Lynn were named to the All-OAC Second Team as a defender and midfielder, respectively, and Zaferakis was an Honorable Mention selection as a goalkeeper.
This marks the first career All-OAC accolade for Reimer, who started all 18 games this season and led the team with 61 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers to go with five points on two goals and three assists. He was part of an ONU defense that ranked third in the conference in fewest goals allowed on the season.
In 35 career games at ONU, Reimer has 73 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers along with six points on three goals and three assists.
Lynn earned his first All-OAC honor after starting all 18 games this season and finishing the year with 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists to go with 15 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He ranked second on the team in assists and third in points.
Lynn has started all 35 of his career games at ONU, tallying 57 points on 38 goals and 19 assists along with 27 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
Zaferakis is now a two-time All-OAC honoree after earning Honorable Mention status as a junior in 2022.
A three-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2023, Zaferakis started all 18 games and closed the year with a 12-6 record to go with 142 saves, a .555 save percentage and 7.41 GAA. He ranked third in the conference in GAA and fourth in save percentage.
Named to the InsideLacrosse.com All-Freshman Team in 2020, Zaferakis is a six-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week selection who owns program records for saves in a game (19), single-season saves (142) and single-season wins in goal (12). He is also ONU's all-time career leader in saves (441), wins (36) and goalie minutes (2,765:52). His career GAA of 8.33 ranks third all-time, and he has a career record of 36-19 with a save percentage of .535.
The Polar Bears posted their eighth consecutive winning season in 2023, going 12-6 overall, and were fourth in the OAC with a 6-3 league record under eighth-year head coach Nat St. Laurent. Northern ended the year with its fifth consecutive OAC Tournament semifinal appearance.
