ADA — Junior Ben Gawronski (Dublin/Scioto) had his first career hat trick to lead the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team in a 17-6 loss to John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 3-3 overall and are 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks improve to 5-1, 3-1.
JCU scored the first six goals until senior Joe O'Connell (Fishers, Ind.) found the net with 7:33 left in the half, but JCU scored the next two goals to lead 8-1 at halftime.
The Polar Berars came out of intermission and dominated the first five minutes of play, getting goals by Christopher Cranston (Fairfax Station, Va./Lake Braddock) and Gawronski to get within 8-3 and force a John Carroll timeout.
But JCU would score the next seven goals to take control and go on to the win.
Skyler Blake led the visitors with eight goals and three assists.
Gawronski scored his second goal with 6:37 left and finished his hat trick with a goal with 2:45 remaining in the game.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at Otterbein.
