IMMACULATA, Pa. — Junior Max Weese (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) and sophomore Cameron Marous (Brecksville) each had hat tricks to lead the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team to an impressive 14-3 victory at Immaculata (Pa.) on Tuesday at Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Mighty Macs fall to 1-4.
Weese picked up all three of his goals in the first half as ONU raced to an 8-1 halftime lead.
Marous finished his hat trick with back-to-back goals in the third period. His third gal at the 2:30 mark of the period extended ONU's lead to 11-1.
Northern then emptied the bench as 47 different players saw action in the contest.
Sophomore Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) added two goals on offense and junior Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) allowed just one goal and had four saves in 40 minutes of action in goal.
The match was slated to begin at 7 pm but was moved up to an 11 am start due to the Noreaster snow storm forecast to hit the Eastern seaboard later today and Wednesday.
ONU out-shot IU 59-13 and won the ground ball battle by a 37-13 margin.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with a game at Hanover (Ind.) to wrap up their Spring Break trip.
