ADA -- The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team erupted for 24 goals and posted a 24-2 victory over area-rival Defiance Wednesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-1 in their inaugural season, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-7.
Freshmen Drew Eramo, Mitch Groves and Steven Slagle each scored four goals for ONU.
Slagle added to his Ohio Athletic Conference-leading assist total with five more on the night, giving him 25 on the season.
Eramo and Groves each had one assist and tallied five points apeice.
Northern exploded for 11 goals in the first period, including three goals in the first 3:05 of the game, and were never seriously threatened.
ONU led 11-0 after the first quarter, 17-2 at halftime and 20-2 after three quarters.
The Polar Bears substituted liberally throughout the contest, as all 27 healthy players on the roster played in the game.
In all, 11 different players scored a goal and seven players had two or more points in the game.
Freshman Lucas Blaszyk had three goals and an assist for four points and freshman Noah St. Croix had two goals and four assists for six points.
Ohio Northern out-shot Defiance 60-7 and held a 64-9 advantage in ground balls.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at 1 pm when they host LaRoche (Pa.) at Dial-Roberson Stadium in their final non-conference game of the season.
