Men's Golf wraps up strong fall season with 17th place finish at 21-team Berry (Ga.) Chik-fil-A Invitational

ROME, Ga. - The Ohio Northern men's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule with a 17th place finish at the Berry (Ga.) Chik-Fil-A Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished 17th of 21 teams with a 43-over par 311-308—619 for 36 holes on the par-72 course.
- Averett (Va.) won the team title with a 586, No. 17-ranked Berry (Ga.) was second with a 587, No. 3 Methodist (N.C.) reserves were third with a 590 and Southern Virginia was fourth with a 593.
- The teams played 18 holes each day.
- The Polar Bears were 18th after Day 1 with a 311.
- ONU Season Record: 28-26.
- Venue: Stonebridge G.C. - Rome, Ga.
ONU Individuals
- Freshman Ian Briars (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) led the Polar Bears with an 80-71—151 to finish tied for 30th of 127 golfers.
- Junior Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) was tied for 66th with a 78-78—156.
- Junior Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tied for 80th with an 80-78—158.
- Freshman Gordon Kopmeyer (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./St. Mary's) carded a 78-81—159 to finish tied for 88th.
- Freshman Dylan Potts (Dublin/Jerome) carded a 75-85—160 to finish tied for 93rd.
Notables
- This was the final of eight tournaments Ohio Northern participated this fall.
- ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 406-398-16 in his 12th season at the helm of the men's program, a winning percentage of .505.
