Men's Golf opens spring schedule with victory at Heidelberg Snowball's Chance Invitational

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern men's golf team opened its spring season with a 6-stroke victory on a snowy Sunday afternoon at the Heidelberg Snowball's Chance Invitational.
The Basics
- The Polar Bears finished with an 29-over par a 317 for 18 holes.
- Northern edged host Heidelberg by six strokes to finish first of four teams.
- Tiffin was third with a 333 and Olivet (Mich.) was fourth with a 347.

ONU Individuals
- Sophomores Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) and Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) and freshman Aashir Patel (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant) all finished tied for second out of 47 golfers with 5-over par 77s.
- Junior Andrew Briars (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) tied for 23rd with an 86.
- Playing as an individual, sophomore Aidan Chandler (Ashland) led the ONU B and C teams with an eighth place finish with an 80.
Notables
- The tournament was played in cold, blustery and snowy conditions, making scoring difficult.
- The outing was the first of five scheduled tournament on Northern's spring schedule.
- ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 357-345-15 in his 11th season at the helm, a winning percentage of .508.
