SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Sophomore Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) fired a final round 73 to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team at the NCAA District V Showcase at the Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame Monday and Tuesday.

  • The Polar Bears shot a final round 319 to finish 77-over par on the 6744-yard, par-71 course.
  • Rose-Hulman (Ind.) won the team title with a 295-290—585.
  • Otterbein was second with a 300-302—602, Trine (Ind.) was third with a 312-299—611, Hope (Mich.) was fourth with a 308-305—613 and Penn State-Altoona is fifth with a 314-305—619.
  • Austin Frick of Rose-Hulman won Medalist honors by six shots with a 3-under par 69-70—139.

ONU Individuals

  • Christy shot a 2-over par 73 in his final round to lead the Polar Bears with an 82-73—155 to finish tied for 21st out of 95 golfers.
  • Sophomore Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tied for 39th with an 80-80—160.
  • Freshman Aashir Patel (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant) posted an 80-82—162 to finish tied for 46th.
  • Sophomore Anthony Naso (Grosse Ile, Mich.) tied for 64th with an 84-84—168.
  • Junior Adam Trigg (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) tied for 76th with an 86-90—176.
  • ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 354-345-15 in his 11th season at the helm.
