SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Ohio Northern men's golf team is 10th of 15 teams after the first round of the NCAA District V Showcase at the Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame.

  • The Polar Bears shot an opening round 326 to finish 42-over par on the 6744-yard, par-71 course.
  • Rose-Hulman (Ind.) leads the team standings with a 295.
  • Otterbein is second with a 300, Capital is third with a 306, Augustana (Ill.) is fourth with a 307 and Hope (Mich.) is fifth with a 308.
  • Austin Frick of Rose-Hulman leads the individual standings with a 2-under par 69.

ONU Individuals

  • Sophomore Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) and freshman Aashir Patel (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant) lead the Polar Bears with a 9-over par 80s to finish tied for 31st place out of 95 golfers.
  • Sophomore Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) is tied for 50th with an 82.
  • Sophomore Anthony Naso (Grosse Ile, Mich.) is tied for 60th with an 84.
  • Junior Adam Trigg (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) is 72nd with an 85.
  • ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 349-336-15 in his 11th season at the helm.
