Men's Golf is sixth of nine teams after Day 1 of OAC Fall Preview

WEST LAFAYETTE — Three different players fired first round 77s to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team into sixth place out of nine teams after the first day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Preview on Saturday at River Greens Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (2-3 overall) carded a 312 and are only six shots our of second place on the par-72 course.

Seniors Josh Steyer (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Austin White (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) and sophomore Adam Trigg-Holdman (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) led ONU with 77s to stand tied for 20th of 81 golfers.

Capital's Angelo Donato fired a 3-under par 69 to lead the individual standings.

Capital leads the team standings with a 296, Marietta is second with a 306 and John Carroll is third with a 308.

Playing on ONU's B Team, freshmen Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Bennet Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) tied for 14th with first round 76s.

The Polar Bears will wrap up the tournament with 18 more holes on Sunday at 11 am.
