Andrew Slusher fires a first round 75, leads Men's Golf into fourth place on the opening day of the OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — Junior Andrew Slusher (Covington) fired a first round 75 to lead Ohio Northern on the opening day of the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on a windy Friday aftrernoon at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (13-22-2 overall) are tied with Baldwin Wallace for fourth place out of nine teams with a 309 after the first 18 holes.
Slusher is tied for 10th out of 45 golfers with his 3-over par 75.
The top 14 finishers and ties after the end of the 72-hole tournament will earn All-OAC honors.
Junior Nolan Kimberly (Zanesville) and sophomore Josh Steyer (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) are tied for 15th with 76s.
Junior Jared Hernandez (Van Wert) is tied for 26th with a 79 and junior Austin White (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) is tied for 43rd with an 86.
Otterbein holds the team lead with a 297. Marietta is second with a 303, Capital is third at 307 and John Carroll is sixth with a 310.
The players actually played 27 holes on Friday, but the totals will not be counted as official until they complete the second round on Saturday morning.
All 45 men will then play round three on Saturday afternoon and will wrap up the tournament with 18 holes on Sunday.
