Freshman Alex Cabungcal wins Medalist honors in first career match, leads Men's Golf at ONU Fall Invitational

HARROD — Freshman Alex Cabungcal (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won Medalist honors in his first collegiate outing to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team at the ONU Fall Invitational on Saturday at Colonial Golfers Club.
The 36-hole tournament was shortened to 18 holes after play was suspended midway through Sunday's second round due to heavy rains.
Cabungcal fired a 1-under par 73 on the 6886-yard course to finish first out of 37 golfers.
Heidelberg and Lourdes tied for first in the team standings with 303s with ONU third at 308 and Bluffton fourth at 319.
Junior Ethan Smith (Chillicothe/Southeastern) and sophomore Nolan Kimberly (Zanesville) finished in a 6-way tie for fourth with 75s and sophomore Jared Hernandez (Van Wert) tied for 12th with a 78 for the Polar Bears (1-2 overall).
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday at the Ohio Cup at Findlay.
